Bridgwater show no mercy

                                 Saturday 2nd October 2021
                           Bridgwater United 7 Brislington 0 ATT 193

Following last weekends exit from the FA Vase to Ashton & Backwell we faced an away trip to
Bridgwater United who sat just below us in the table.
On top of the injured players s ll missing we were also missing our complete back four from the
previous 2 games Captain Sco Lewis, Ellio Saunders, Asa White & Lewis Dunn all unavailable.
Barwood was serving the last of his 3 match ban.
Conor Mccormack was available again a er being injured since the first game again along with
Greenslade, Ewins & Lynskey who made up the back four. George Returned a er injury with James
Auger coming in to partner Bath up front.
The home side started the brighter and on 9mins won a dubious penalty. McCormack foul looked
well outside the box but the forward fell into the area and ref awarded a penalty which was not even
appealed for by the home side.
The penalty was despatch and we were 1-0 down.
We then got in to the game Auger was star ng to find some success up top and one storming run
could not produce the goal it probably deserved. Unfortunately he picked up an hamstring injury and
was forced off being replace by Brace. His 1st touch was a shot which home keeper done well with.
Good work on the right by Edmondson found Scadding at the back post but unfortunately he could
not get his shot on target.
Just on half me we were dealt another blow when Greenslade picked up an ankle injury and was
       replaced by Proctor.
The home side then won a corner when the ball clearly did not go out of play and went for a throw.
The only person who thought it was a corner was the lino who was about 20yards behind the play.
We failed to deal with the corner and a er pinging around the box was smashed home by former
       player Jordan Greenwood.
       HT 2-0

We stated the 2nd half more brightly and both Proctor & Brace should have done be er with great
chances. Proctor put his chance wide while Brace went through one on one but opted to try and put
the ball top bins rather than slide it past the keeper.
The home side were star ng to look the stronger and another injury this me to Edmondson lead to
our 3rd & final sub a er 60mins with Robbie Tanner replacing him.
It was now looking like damaged limita ons to hold out for the 2-0 loss with players star ng to re
       on an energy sapping pitch.
But a er 78mins we conceded a 3rd and shortly a erwards McCormack was forced when feeling his
previous injury. This led to Bridgwater finding the net on 4 more occasions to make it 7-0.
Yes we would have probably accepted a 2-0 loss a er 78mins but 7 was hard to take. But losing the
amount of players we have since the season started for one reason or another is becoming a regular
occurrence week in week out. And any manager would be frustrated by it.
We have proved on our day we can match anyone in this league when Perksy has the players at his
disposal. But by the looks of it another 3 will join the casualty list this week.
The Reserves con nued their fine start to the season with a hard fought 2-1 win over Tormarton
Reserves with goals from Damien Abraham & Neil Graydon securing the 3 points.
This week the 1st team welcome Exmouth Town to Ironmould Lane.
While the reserves travel to Hallen Rangers looking to con nue their 100% start to the season
