View from the dugout
A er a reasonable run of results in September our FA Vase run came to an abrupt
end when we lost 2-1 to Ashton & Backwell. We put in a poor performance against
them but we’re extremely disappointed to lose the game with some the recent
performances we have put in.
To follow it up with last weeks heavy loss to Bridgwater was hard to take on the
chin because a er 78mins we were s ll in the game. But again injuries during the
game & finishing with only 10 fit players cost us dearly.
But player availability is becoming a real issue this season for one reason or
another. It is becoming frustra ng for Perksy because he has worked relessly to
get a squad together that is capable of compe ng in probably what is one of the
toughest Western Leagues for many years.
We have proved we can compete when we have a fully available squad but that
has not happened yet with probably the excep on of the first game against Street.
We now start a tough run of games with back to back games vs Exmouth before
we play Shepton Mallet (A), Buckland (H) and then make our first trip to Cornwall
to play Saltash Utd.
On the bright side the Reserves s ll have a 100% record from their first 3 games
under Pearty
They beat Stoneway Athle c 11-2 with Pearty grabbing his 2nd hat trick of the
season as well as Neil Graydon weighing with 3 goals as well and then following
that up with a 2-1 win over Tormarton Reserves last week. Damien Abraham &
Graydon grabbing the goals.
