Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good evening and welcome to the Lancer Scott
Stadium for the visit of Cadbury Heath FC. I would
like to extend a particularly warm welcome to
today’s match officials, Simon, Laraway, Jonathan,
Cooper, and Andy Lambourne, to all the officials,
supporters and players from Cadbury Heath for
tonight‘s local derby.
The 1st Team’s last 2 fixtures have fell foul to the
weather, so trips to North Devon to both
Barnstable and Ilfracombe were postponed. Due
to Barnstable Town’s refusal to cooperate by
rearranging their home game on Good Friday V
Ilfracombe, we now have to play both rearranged
games mid-week, which is at least a 4 1/2 hour round trip. Not the best for a
mid-week fixture. I understand that Barnstaple would expect a 3–500 crowd
and an awful lot of money but clearly put themselves first, rather than thinking
about clubs having to travel long distances mid-week. Welton Rovers, even
offered to give up their local derby with Shepton Mallet to travel to Barnstaple
on Good Friday, allowing us to play Ilfracombe the same day, as I say,
Barnstable just didn’t want to cooperate which is disappointing.
The Heathens are having a challenging season, currently sitting at the bottom
of the table. We travelled to Cadbury Heath on New Year’s Day bank holiday,
with goals from Alfie, Miles and Catts to give us a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Last year, the clubs met 3 times, 2 victories for Cadbury Heath, 1 in the league,
1 in the league cup and a Sam Price winner on New Year’s Day gave us the
three points here.
We are home again this coming Saturday, April 1st when we welcome Torpoint
Athletic KO 3pm.
If tonight‘s game is as good as the last 1st team game here, which was a highly
entertaining 1-1 draw with Helston, then we are in for a treat.
Thank you for your support this evening, enjoy the game and please as always
respect the officials.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
