Ruardean Hill seal points against
Gala Wilton
Mark Simpson
Three games this week, and it looks like the rainfall over Ruardean
Hill Rangers from their vantage point in the Forest drained down
onto Broadwell’s pitch. All three games involved struggling teams
with only Ruardean Hill taking full advantage with a fine victory over
Gala Wilton.
Starting at Ruardean Hill Rangers v Gala Wilton in the Forest,
and only three minutes in and Tom Landon’s 35-yard effort had
Bignell in the Gala goal scrambling, but Gala broke back and a good
header from Dobbins was just off target. On 11 minutes a corner to
Gala was partially cleared and fell to Jorell Sanniola who curled a
lovely shot into the net. Hill equalised on twenty minutes when a
sweet fast move saw Sansom lay off the Ollie Mason who lashed
home from 25 yards. The remainder of the half was fairly even with
few noticeable chances. A few minutes into the second half Hill
shifted the ball across the Gala box before Clark’s shot was just
wide. After 55 minutes Gala was back in front, Dobbins expertly
brought the ball down with his first touch and drilled past
Underwood for 2-1. Hill looked to get back in, but a Telling shot was
charged down by the defence. Gala’s lead lasted 10 minutes before
Charlie Mason’s free kick from the halfway line caught out Bignell
and found its way straight into the net. Taylor Blaby was next to try
his luck but his shot from just outside the box dropped just wide.
With quarter of an hour to go a route one ball from Steve Clark sees
the Gala defence caught out and a great run from Fin Jones saw him
beat Bignell to the ball, and slotting past him for a 3-2 Hill lead. Clark
should have made it four after Ollie Mason played him through one
on one but Bignell spread himself well. Gala hoisted a late free kick
into the box but a great tackle from Landon put the ball out for a
corner and Hill held on for a 3-2 win.
