President’s
Thoughts
Today we welcome the players, officials and spectators of high flying Welton Rovers to ‘The
Lane.
We’ve had some interesting matches against Welton over previous seasons and I’m sure that
today will be a cracking game with them seeking to continue their good run and ourselves
looking to return to our earlier season form.
Last week at Bishops Lydeard we did well to recover from a poor start to get back level and
I’m told, although I couldn’t attend, that we dominated the second half and the only thing
missing was a goal that would have sunk them. Sadly as often happens they nicked a late
winner, but the boys should be buoyed by the second half performance and let’s hope we
start well today.
Just a quick reminder to utilise the various antiseptic gel stations at the entrance and in the
bar area. Whilst infection figures look to be falling this pandemic is far from over and we
want to make sure everyone is safe.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy the game
and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or not, as with-out
officials we could not play the game...
As we all say #Up the Phones
When I last put pen to paper, I was about to take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon,
which I’m pleased to say I completed in the time of 5hrs 21mins 01 sec. Not too bad for a
65-year-old in my opinion. Many thanks to all those that sponsored me.
See you in the bar...
