Despite the heavy 5-0 defeat inflicted on us by National League side Yeovil Town, we can still be
incredibly proud of the momentous run that took us to that stage for only the second time in our history.
Full credit must go to Darren Sarll’s men for an incredibly professional performance, as three goals in
the first 30 minutes effectively killed the tie and set Yeovil up with a home tie against EFL opposition in
either Milton Keynes Dons or Stevenage. It was also gutting to see a late first-half strike from James
Harding ruled out for handball, before the Somerset outfit notched twice more in the second half.
Result aside, last Saturday was a momentous occasion for the club and it was amazing to see the South
West Interiors Stadium packed to the rafters with fans egging on their local team. We hope the run has
gained us a few extra fans and we would love to welcome everyone to Lodge Road again in the future.
Nevertheless, the sun has set on the FA Cup run and now it is time to focus our efforts on what remains
ahead of us. The season’s cup action isn’t quite finished yet either. Paul Michael named a strong team
for Tuesday’s County Cup clash against Cheltenham Town reserves and was richly rewarded as a four-
goal masterclass from James Harding, along with a strike from Ricardo Rees and an own goal, earned
       Yate a terrific 6-0 win.
The crushing victory was the perfect way to erase the memory of the hammering dished out by the
Glovers and sets up an intriguing local tie away at Bristol Rovers in the next round (the date for this
       match is to be confirmed).
Looking ahead, the fixture list remains jam-packed. Today’s encounter with Taunton Town will be the
        th
15 home fixture in 17 games. We wish a very warm welcome to the players, directors, management
and supporters of Taunton, who today make the journey up the M5. We hope you enjoy your stay here
and have a safe journey home.
Today’s match is finely poised, with Taunton only one place and two points ahead of the Bluebells in the
league, having played an extra game. The two sides were due to meet at the end of September in the
reverse fixture at Wordsworth Drive. However, the fixture was called off by the home side due to the
fuel shortages sweeping across the country at the time. This has since been rescheduled for Tuesday
        th
       7 December.
Rob Dray’s men come to Lodge Road having not played a league game since a 2-0 defeat at Hendon on
October 23 . Since then, the Peacocks have had mixed cup fortunes, losing to fellow Somerset side
               rd
Weston-Super-Mare in the FA Trophy, then knocking Truro City out of the Southern Football League Cup
courtesy of a 3-1 win. Goals from Jake Wannell, Jay Foulston and Jared Lewington gave Taunton a
       much-needed boost ahead of today.
The home matches do not end today either, as we are hosting Poole Town on Tuesday 16 November
                                                                       th
(7.45 KO). As always, all your support is massively appreciated, and we hope to see you follow the lads
on the road as well, as Saturday 20 sees the Bluebells make the short journey along the M4 to face
                                th
       Swindon Supermarine.
       C’mon you Bluebells!
       Lewiss Smith

The club wishes to offer its deepest condolences to the family of Bob Jordan who sadly
passed away recently. Bob was a stalwart of the club and an active supporter for over
70 years. He was instrumental in organising the move from Sunnyside Lane to Lodge
Road, a location that is just a few hundred yards from the house where he was born.
Bob will be remembered fondly by all those that knew him here at Yate Town, and as
a club we owe him a debt of gratitude for all of his years of dedication and support that
helped us get to where we are today. There will be a collection at next Tuesday’s match
versus Poole Town in memory of Bob with all proceeds going to the family’s chosen
charity 'Cataracts Are Curable - The Gambian Project’.
