Bris hit five at Odd Down
Tuesday 6th September 2022
Odd Down 1 Brislington 5
L Dunn 16mins White 35 & 94 mins McLennan 43mins Simpson 55mins
Wow what a game. 6 goals & 3 Red cards.
More selec on headaches for Perksy. Griffiths was serving the 1st game of a 2 match ban. So Kye
Simpson came in & new signing Joel Smith from Bristol Telephones made his debut in midfield.
We knew Odd Down could be dangerous and on 3mins their danger man Bryan hit the foot of the
post from range.
We struggled to find any rhythm for the first 15mins stray passes & not being able to get a foot on
the ball not helping out cause.
But on 16 mins we took the lead Lewis Dunn found some space in the box and finished well from a
ght angle. 1-0.
3mins later Macca found space but his effort was off target. We were now star ng to push the home
side deep. We were defending well and finding Macca in good posi on on the le .
For all our good play it took us un l the 35min to find a 2nd. Dunns free kick was not dealt with &
White header home 0-2.
8mins later it was 0-3 the home side clearance found Macca on the edge of the box who proceeded
to s ck the ball in the top corner.
HT 0-3 but we knew from the Wincanton game that anything can happen & I don’t think anyone was
prepared for the 2nd half we witnessed.
We started reasonably well again.
On 49 mins the Odd Down manager was sent from the dugout.
On 51mins Whites header from a corner was blocked in the line.
A er 55mins it was 0-4 Macca done well again but seen his shot saved. Jones managed to pick up
the rebound & set up Simpson for an easy finish.
We were s ll very much on top but all that changed on 72mins. Simpson tried to shield the ball out
but there were a ers, with Simpson ge ng a straight red but the home no 4 only seeing yellow
despite swinging a punch.
4mins later we were down to 9 men when sun Walker was shown a straight red for a tackle.
On 83mins the home side were given a glimmer of help when a free kick was squeezed through the
wall & past Dorrington 1-4.
The home con nued to put pressure on but could not find a way past. We were ge ng rid of the ball
but it was coming straight back.
But as the game entered injury me we grabbed our 5th Tuckers persistence & pace got him in to the
box only to be bought down. White stepped up for the penalty & scored his 2nd of the night.
FT 1-5. A good all round performance and the 9 men dug in & held out for 20mins.
Next up it’s Friday night football at Ironmould Lane when we welcome Por shead Town as we hope
to keep this li le run we’re on going
