as the Seasiders left Devon with a 2-2 draw.
Tytherington Rocks marked their switch from the Hellenic League
with a surprise 2-1 win at one of the First Division title favourites
Cheddar. Bailey Croome notched both of the Rocks’ goals with the
Cheesemen’s reply coming from Callum Laird.
Newly-promoted AEK Boco began life in the Western League with a
hard-fought goal less draw at local rivals Oldland Abbotonians.
Jude McCarthy’s strike was the only bright spot on a bad day at the
office for Hengrove Athletic who crashed 6-1 at Sherborne
Town. Almondsbury also began with a defeat but buy the only goal
of the game at Warminster Town. Corey Gardner grabbing the
headlines.
Longwell Green Sports were 3-2 winners at Wincanton Town
whilst Lebeq United lost 2-1 at home to Radstock Town despite
a goal from Niekell Plummer.
Portishead Town returned from new boys Gillingham Town with
a 3-0 victory and Welton Rovers also won 2-1 on the road at Odd
Down (Bath) thanks to Jake Slocombe and Chris Pile.
The remaining two matches both resulted in 2-2 draws. Bishop
Sutton had Solomon Shearer on target twice but had to settle for a
point as Wells City hit back through Craig Herrod and Adam Wright.
Bishops Lydeard also shared four goals with Devizes Town for whom
Jordan Kirk and Rhys Talmash were on target.
