Thoughts

Welcome to Stockwood for the start of our 2021/22 campaign against local
opponents, Oldland Abbotonians.

This is a reverse of our opening fixture last season which saw Oldland beat
us 2-1 in what was a fairly physical affair. It would be nice to turn that
result and start our season with a win.

That game seems like an age ago and it is great if a little strange (for me
anyway) to be back after so long away. However we have had a good pre-
season and only lost a couple of games to Covid and I know all the
management and players are excited to be starting again.

We finished last (truncated) season in lower mid-table and I know that with
the exciting group of players we have at the club we will be looking to
achieve a better finishing position this time around.

In mentioning Covid I would like to ask all visitors to be sensible and
maintain distancing where you are able and to use the hand gels provided.
The last thing we all want is for this season to be halted again like the last
two!!

Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s
all enjoy the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement
whether we agree or not, as with-out officials we could not play the game...

As always I look forward to having a drink (or two) with you all in the bar
after (Socially distanced, of course), and you can find me in the kitchen
providing tea’s, coffee’s, pasties and pies during the game. Come and look
