Yate Town 0 Chesham United 1

Actually it was an even contest between two committed sides but it will go down as the
game of two penalty kicks and some very questionable decisions by the officials, writes John
       Davis.

With both clubs desperately short of goals this season it was never going to be a high scoring
game but on the ratio of chances created and with both goalkeepers in good form a draw
might have been a fairer result.

Chesham got their lucky break in the eleventh minute when Nick Rhodes was harshly judged
to have held Eoin Casey just inside the box and Jake Cass put the visitors ahead from the
       penalty spot.
Ollie Mehew then used his pace to good effect against the Chesham backline. He was
crowded out while shooting on one occasion and later could not find a supporting team-mate
after a surging run up the left wing and a cross into the goalmouth.

At the other end Andy Hannah did well to block a close range effort from David Pearce before
Mehew tested Chesham's Sam Beasant with a curling shot that looked destined for the top
       corner.
Hannah was again called into action at the start of the second half. He saved well from Cass
just three minutes in and then pushed away a drive from the same player who managed to
get in another fierce shot despite being pushed wide of the goal.

The main talking point of the game came in the seventy third minute when everyone on the
pitch became involved in discussions on the officials' decision and play was put on hold for
       a good five minutes.
When order was restored, a dubious penalty was awarded to Yate for a handling offence on
the line only for Mehew to under-hit the spot kick allowing Beasant, diving to his right, to
       make the save.

More yellow cards and a procession of substitutions followed before Liam Angel almost
snatched a point with a late header from a corner which Beasant again got down well to
       gather.

Star man: Andy Hannah (A number of class saves especially in the second half to prevent
Chesham getting a second goal.) Attendance: 213. Star rating: 3 stars.
