CONT…..
The pattern of the game continued with Cheltenham controlling possession but
Almondsbury defending admirably, whilst Cooper made saves from Billie Haynes and Rogers.
The pressure eventually told when Lacy-Jai Liggett was tripped in the area by Jones, and the
striker picked herself up to convert a second penalty for her side on the night.
Almondsbury hit back with a strong run from Kim Maggs who set up a chance for Amy
Jefferies but her shot was saved. Liggett hit the side netting and forced a save at the other end
against a desperately tired Almondsbury side, several of whose players were suffering with cramp.
As the game went into injury time, Bevan crossed for Georgie-Marie Barbour-Gresham
whose thumping header could not be kept out by Cooper.
Almondsbury deserve a lot of credit for their efforts as their fourteen match winning run
came to an end but the night - and the season - belonged to Cheltenham.
