Away to phoenix next gen
So last 2 games of 2023 ended our unbeaten run and pair performances losing both
games unnecessary, so new year we set off to phoenix next gen no easy games
here and drew 1 all at home
The pitch was not the best to play flowing football, we were pushing forward at
every opportunity but they were very strong on the counter attack.
We pushed and pushed and broke the deadlock early in the game when a Maddox
Payne free kick caused some issues in the box and Cody Winkler netted from 12
yards,
Phoenix had a few efforts of which Tom in goal dealt with and the excellent mark
Reid kept them at bay , new signing nick weeks looked very comfortable in the back
4 and we held on the 3 points We had a serious I jury to Robbie Allen our skipper
which turned out to be a broken nose, we wish Robbie well and thanks to Greg
Chillcott and Ian tucker getting him to hospital ,
After the game we celebrated with birthday boy Charlie Dumble,
A great start to the year and hopefully push on now.
A great team effort today and showed how far we have come and I'm very proud
if these guys a Mix of experience and some good new young talent and what they
have achieved so far this season,
MOM mark Reid
A team were in GFA Cup quarter final action against Made for Ever
Reserves.
Made4ever scored from kick off as the A team was not switched on. Matt sweet
shot from the kick off which looked over the line but the ref did not give the goal.
The A team then controlled the half and had several chances before Cameron
Cafferkey scoring again to make it 1-1
Second half could have gone either way with both teams going for it. The game
went to a penalty shoot-out with Made4ever winning 5-4 on pens ending our cup
run
The 18’s continue their good run of form beating Central 3-1.
Zaid Samadi the 18’s top scorer scored twice and Yunus scoring gave them a
comfortable win to keep them top the league with some big games to come.
Man of match Liam Poole.
