A great win in the week, well a great final 25 minutes,
beating Wellington 4-0 and a fantastic hat-trick from 2 nd
half substitute, Miles.

Some disappointing statements from both the Western League and S.W. Peninsula
league this week. The Toolstation Western league release is in this programme.
Apparently with all bridges crossed, the last subject was the allocation of roles and
responsibilities, to be agreed at a meeting on monday 6 February. That meeting never
th
happened and talks have ceased. Other than the enclosed statement no other details
are available to the clubs. I just hope egos are moved aside, common sense prevails and
that next season the geographical restructure goes ahead in some form.
We go way back to 2014 15 when the sides last met, Barnstable won Division I losing
only two games. We were under the management of Coomber and finished a very
credible eighth place. We had the misfortune of hosting them on the first game of the
season and lost five nil, including a goal from a young Billy Tucker. We travelled to North
Devon in the January and we were just two minutes from being only the second side to
beat them that season, leading 3-2 if my memory serves me correctly it was a disputed
injury time equaliser, following our goals from Leon Britton, Ryan Crouch and Lee
Pitman.
Today its 6 Vs 7 , both sides have been defeated just once in their last 6 league
th
th
games, so everything points to a highly competitive and hopefully entertaining game.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the officials.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
