P. 3
Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the players,
coaching team and supporters who have made the long trek
from Helston for our last Toolstation Western League Premier
Division game of the season. Our committee would also like to
welcome today’s match officials, referee Valentin Pomfret and
his 2 assistants, Steve Postings & Chris Martin.
It’s also great to welcome James Ross and the rest of our
Under 10 Colts team again, who will be mascots today as they
were last week against Mousehole.
Our lads produced a battling performance against champions-
elect Mousehole last Saturday. 2 goals in the final 5 minutes of
the first half gave us a mountain to climb, but we competed
against a very strong, well-organised team for 90 minutes and
were unlucky to lose by a 3-0 margin.
As this is our last game of what has been a watershed season for the Ks in our new
partnership with Total Pro Soccer, I would like to take this opportunity to thank (in no
particular order):
My wife Terrie (I had to put her first!!!) for her sterling efforts in her role as Club
Treasurer, stocking/cleaning/running the tea hut, providing food for the players which
invariably gets excellent feedback from our visitors, and not least helping me keep things
going off the field when I get stressed out!
Chairman Phil Gane, who in his first season in the role has been superb support for
myself and Terrie.
Fellow committee members Martin, Kev and Phil B, without whose support on match
days it would be difficult for us to function effectively off the pitch.
Life President Malcolm Trainer, who manned the gate in all weathers for most of the
season until his recent health issues.
The club’s superb volunteer photographers, Pete Ricketts and Eamonn Twamley, whose
excellent photos have given us plenty of material for our programmes and social media
this season.
Our many sponsors, especially McGill Transport, Smart Computers and KitCo, whose
financial help (especially with the massive travel costs we incur) enables us to continue
at this level.
And last but definitely not least, our loyal supporters. I appreciate that this has
sometimes been a difficult season from a spectating point of view, especially with a
completely new squad to get used to, but plenty of you have lasted the course, and
hopefully we will have a bit more to cheer about next season!
Don’t forget that the club will be holding our presentation evening on Saturday 29 April at
th
The Club @ 22 on Keynsham High Street (formerly The Conservative Club) at 7.30pm. it
would be lovely to see our supporters and sponsors at the event, as everyone is welcome!
Thank you all once again for your valued support this season, and we hope to see you here
again in August!
Up the Ks!!
Jules French (Club Secretary)
