P. 3
Welcome to our double header match week and we are
delighted to welcome the players, coaching team and
supporters of Shirehampton. As we play them twice
this week, we are doubling up on our programme, with
our first game on Tuesday playing them in round 1 of
the Les Phillips Cup and then back at the AJN on
Saturday for our Toolstation Western League Division
One game. Our last league game away at
Shirehampton ended in a heavy 6-1 loss, so we are
hoping to change our fortunes around over these two
games.
Our committee would also like to welcome our officials
for the games, referee Toby Franklin and assistants
Samuel Wilmot & Ashley Bryant for Tuesday’s Les
Phillips Cup and referee Kevin Rodd and assistants Martin Chown & Edward O’Reilly
for Saturday’s league game.
At our last committee meeting, I was asked to stand-in for our Chairman Phil Gane,
who is off to Australia for 3 months to see his family. I was delighted and honoured
to be asked to fill the role and I look forward to continuing in helping Keynsham
Town FC in the coming months. May I also take the opportunity to wish Phil a safe
journey and hope that he has a fabulous time with his family over the festive
season and we look forward to his safe return in 2024.
Off the field I would like to give a special mention to Mia Daly, who plays for our
Keynsham Town Ladies and who has been covering our first team games with
imagery and interviews via our Instagram feed. I would also like to thank Freddie
Saywell, who used to play in our Junior section, for his work in helping to update
the clubs brand with new graphics for both our online website and social media
channels and he has started to update our programme which we hope you are all
enjoying. Grassroots clubs like ours cannot survive without volunteers like Mia &
Freddie and all our volunteers and we thank them all.
I would also like to pass on our best wishes to our very own Club Treasurer, Terrie
French, who will be missing a number of games from this week and over the festive
period into the new year whilst recovering from an operation. We will all be
thinking of you Terrie and look forward to having you back in your newly
refurbished Tea Hut!
On the field, our league form has not been great so far this season, but we go into
this double header with a little bit of confidence after a good performance last
Saturday against Cheddar whom we beat 4-0. Not only were the three points very
important but it was also our first clean sheet of the season, which was even more
impressive having had our goalkeeper sent off!
As always, don’t forget to keep up with all the K’s news via our website and all our
social media channels! We will be offering a bargain ½ Season Ticket deal for our
remaining home Western League games. Don’t miss out!
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at the
Crown Fields for the remainder of the season.
Up The K’s
Martin Parfrey (Acting Chairman)
