President’s
Thoughts
Welcome to ‘The Lane’ today to Chipping Sodbury Town for this Buildbase FA Vase
Second Round Qualifying match.
We go into this game full of confidence following our last performance but we are
well aware that our opponents today are a level above us and, despite having a
fairly mixed start to their season, they will definitely be the favourites to progress.
The FA Vase is a good opportunity for clubs to add some much needed funds into
our bank accounts and we would certainly welcome entering the ‘first round proper’
with the cash benefits that would await.
The cup is always a great break from the league and today’s match will, if the score
is level at full time, go straight to penalties, which should add a bit of spice to the
occasion. I just hope that my nerves hold out if that happens, and that the sausage
and chips aren’t burnt!
Just a quick reminder to utilise the various antiseptic gel stations at the entrance
and in the bar area. Whilst infection figures look to be falling this pandemic is far
from over and we want to make sure everyone is safe.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game...
As we all say #Up the Phones
As always I look forward to having a drink (or two) with you all in the bar after
(Socially distanced, of course), and you can find me in the kitchen providing tea’s,
coffee’s, pasties and pies today, come and look me up.
