Stand was installed at the ground in 2012-2013 to enter the FA Cup and
future possible promotions.
The first XI finished runners-up in Western League Division One in
2012-2013, achieving promotion to the Premier Division for the first time.
They then lifted the Les Phillips League Cup in 2015-2016 before winning
promotion to the Premier Division again in 2016/17. The following season, the
club finished ninth in the table, their highest position ever, and also the
highest placed Bristol team at this level, before being relegated in season
2018/19.
Manager Jamie Hillman returned to the club in the summer of 2019 but with
both seasons remaining unfinished, has yet to complete a full campaign.
Jamie has added to the management team in the shape of Jon Berry, Ian
Jones and Mike Stone with Pete Stenner in the physio role.
This season, the club have launched a new under-18’s team that play in the
Bristol U18 Football Combination, In addition, Hengrove also host local side
Bristol Spartak as well as several St Aldhelm’s junior teams.
In July 2016, the attendance record for the ground was smashed when 1,693
saw the Grove host Bristol City in the annual BCFC Community Trust match.
The club have also built up an impressive reputation as a great host for local
youth cup finals and League Cup finals in recent years. Hengrove will
celebrate their 75th anniversary in 2023 and has recently embarked on a
project called “Hengrove 75” to mark the event.
