Beech’s Bench Talk

Good Afternoon and welcome to the Lancer Scott
        stadium.

Since my last piece we have had some very devastating
news at the club with the sudden passing of Jonathan
Rogers who in his short time at the club has helped me
and the club massively and will be sadly missed.
Today We welcome Clevedon Town for this local derby
who are a very good young side under the guidance of
Alex and Ryan and it will be another tough encounter.
We go into today’s game after 2 defeats down in
Cornwall which has been disappointing. Firstly against
Millbrook where we didn’t play well but got back to 1-1
with a goal from new signing Shea Bennington-
Mannings, only to lose out in the 91st minute to a sloppy goal.
Next up was promotion favourites Saltash United who are the best team we have
played so far this season. We started the game very well and should have been
1 up within a minute only to see DJ put it wide when it was easier to score! We
soon found ourselves 1-0 down within 5 mins but we showed good character to
level after a Joe Bank’s shot was saved and it fell nicely to Shea Bennington-
Mannings to level the scores. With half time approaching we conceded a
needless penalty and go in 2-1 down which was very disappointing as we were
causing Saltash a few problems. The 2nd half was very disappointing, we let
ourselves down and lost our shape, players went missing. We end up losing the
game 4-1! Saltash are very good side and will be up there come the end of the
season. That said the players know what is expected today, we need to turn up
and be counted. I’m looking for a response.

Get behind the lads and I will see you in the bar after the game
