Yate Town 4 Dorchester Town 1

This was the perfect response to the mid-week cup defeat and with a little sharper
finishing the win margin could have been even greater, writes John Davis.
The intent was clear from the start and inside the first ten minutes Jordan Williams
had crashed a shot against the crossbar after Ollie Mehew had battled to win the
       ball on the by-line.
A first goal duly arrived after 14 minutes, a free kick by Williams from distance
eluding everyone in a packed goalmouth and ending up in the back of the net.
Stuart Fleetwood then tried a cheeky lob from way out when he spotted Will Buse
off his line and Mehew rolled the ball just past the post after taking advantage of
some dithering between Buse and defender Chris Hadden.
Dorchester found it hard to put any cohesive moves together and were largely
restricted to long range efforts with Tom Blair and Rubin Wilson blasting well over
       the top of the goal.
Mehew, enjoying his free-range marauding role up the right flank, set up the
second goal on 24 minutes. His pacy run outstripped his marker and, when he
played the ball into the goalmouth, Sam Turl, who had joined the attack from deep,
       finished from close range.
As the home side finished the first half strongly, Mehew had a shot blocked,
Fleetwood was denied by the diving Buse and Craig Norman headed over from
       close range.
The second half was only minutes old when it was 3-0. Mehew was bundled over
by Buse as he went for the ball in the box and Andy Lewis netted the penalty kick
       that followed.
A fourth goal came on the hour. Mehew, set free down the right by Sam Kamara,
provided his third assist of the game when he pulled the ball back for the advancing
Fleetwood to drive in from the edge of the box.
Williams and Aaron Ward-Baptiste then had further chances before Dorchester
salvaged something from the game in stoppage time when Sam Bayston jinked
through to score a late consolation.

Star man: Sam Turl (Solid in defence and always willing to get forward on attacking
runs.) Entertainment rating: 4 stars. Attendance: 238.
