Paul Michael
A head of PE by profession Paul played in the Welsh Premier League for
Haverfordwest County and the Southern League with Clevedon Town. Paul took
over as player-manager at Risca United where he led the club to back to back
promotions from the Welsh League D3 to D1 and a highest ever finish before
making the move to Cinderford Town in 2016. At Cinderford Paul undertook a team
rebuild and led the team to the league cup final and play-off final in 2019, ironically
losing to Yate before taking over at Lodge road this summer.
Andrew Smith
Also a teacher by profession ‘Smudge’ played at Newport County, Weston,
Clevedon and Monmouth where he also enjoyed successful spells as Manager and
as Assistant Manager to Steve Jenkins leading Monmouth to the Welsh League
title. Smudge took up the role of Assistant Manager to Paul Michael at Cinderford
Town in 2016 and they made the move together to Yate for 20-21.
Kevin Brain
A valued part of Paul’s backroom staff at Cinderford, Kev arrives at Yate as part of
the management team where he takes up the post of Head Sports Therapist and
puts his experience as a goalkeeper to good use by supporting the goalkeepers at
the club.
Rachel Brain
Assistant Therapist Rachel is a student at Hartpury University where she is
studying Sports Therapy.
Andrew Hannah
A product of the Plymouth Argyle academy Hannah moved to Hartpury on a
football scholarship after his time with “The Pilgrims” came to an end. Whilst in
the Gloucester area Hannah spent time with a number of clubs including
Mangotsfield, Evesham and Gloucester City before moving to Yate this summer.
Josh Langley
After spells with Cirencester, Malmesbury Vics and Highworth Josh has signed to
compete with Andy for the number 1 jersey Josh and has impressed in training
and pre-season matches this summer. Josh is dual registered with Chipping
Sodbury to keep up his match minutes and will be hoping to make the number 1
jersey his own by the end of the season.
Elliot Keightley
Joined Yate Town in the 2018/19 season, a defender who previously captained
North Leigh, and has also previously played for Bishops Cleeve, Cinderford Town
and Paulton Rovers, having started his career at Cheltenham Town Academy.
Sam Turl
A youth team player at Gloucester City Sam made his first steps into senior football
impressing at Slimbridge where Paul Michael made the approach to take him to
Cinderford in 2018. The full back went on to win player’s player of the year two
years running and built up an excellent reputation for his one v one defending
before following Michael to Yate this summer.
