WAGS
We gather here today to mourn the loss of Mendip Broadwalk’s run without defeat.
On a bleak Tuesday evening we faced 2nd in the league and last season’s champs:
Chilcompton.
With a strong performance from the get go, us WAGS were left humbled by what
seemed to be some great managerial decision making. The squad looked strong
and on form.
Alas, the curse of the Tuesday night matches returned and Chilcompton scored
their first; heads started to get lost.
We went into the second half 2-0 down. We’d seen bigger comebacks: The
wrington game and Jordan Hughes’ 5th return from Nailsea Tickenham. Could we
do it again?
If we were going to pull it back some changes needed to be made. Bore (choice
spelling) was living up to his name, Seb looked like half of him was still in France
and at times we didn’t even notice that Hickery was on the pitch!
The 3rd goal from Chilcompton (alongside a very quiet management front) left an
air of regret.
In hindsight, they were the better team that night. It doesn’t make it any less bitter
to face our first loss this season - especially to a team where half of them look like
they’re still waiting for puberty to hit.
Our WAGS POM was meant to go to Jackson but he managed to evade detection
from Sam in the clubhouse. Why the team seems to be so sheepish accepting this
prestigious award will always be a mystery to us!
The one good thing that came from the second half was that Ben Collins’ bad back
made a miraculous recovery when he got subbed on.
On we move to this Saturday - Clevedon at home. Another tough game. Can the
WAGS watch another defeat without getting the ick?
Until next time.
Up the Mendip!!
Love,
Sam, Beau and Shannon
