Reserves Report
This first local derby of the season saw us play parson street in a game we
looked in control of for the majority of the game although still had to ride our
luck at times, we took the lead when a shot from outside the box from Rags
squeezed under the keeper (a bit of luck we’ve missed in the last few weeks)
shortly after Ty managed a triple block on the line from a corner to keep our
1-0 lead at half time, second half we kept up the pressure and was rewarded
with another 2 good goals firstly from Liam Matthews and then the final goal
from Rags against his former side
3-0 win and a few beers shared between both sides after exactly what football
is about.
A tricky fixture against league leaders Jamaica Bell was next knowing a win
over them would put us top, they had previously won 3/3 so this was to be
tough away from home.
We started in the worst possible way a long ball was left to clarky who was left
in no mans land 0-1 and second to every ball, half hour in we changed
formation and finished the half well, second half we had a lot of the ball
although struggled to break Jamaica bell down, they in turn were slowing the
game down at every opportunity. With half hour left we used all three subs
and they made an impact that we was hoping for we scored within 5 minutes
and looked the fitter side, Jay Tummon with a great outside the boot effort from
25 yards before Harry jones committed the keeper on the edge of the box with
his back to goal chipped the keeper on the turn, 2-1 up and defending deep for
the last 5 minutes we looked comfortable untill a long throw into the box
dropped to their striker who toe poked it past clarky only to see his effort
rebound off the post to safety and three points and top spot was ours.
A few sides have games in hand but to be top after being bottom at the same
stage last season is a credit to all the lads who stuck by our management team
and stuck together
