P. 3
Good afternoon all. Today we welcome the
players , officials and supporters from
Exmouth Town; I hope that they had a
trouble free trip up the M5. We also
welcome the Referee today Steve Fearnley
and assistants Alex Begbie-Dilks & Shaun
Enever.
Matches have certainly been coming thick
and fast recently and it came as a bit of an
eye opener to me the other day when I
paused to think, and it dawned upon me
that we have already completed over a
quarter of the season! It is good that we
get games played before the inevitable
onset of poor weather, but it does bring its
challenges as well in the form of injuries ,
suspensions and occasional unavailability
of players.
It was against this back drop that we made the very long trip to Helston last
Saturday. The performance that the lads gave was simply breathtaking; to
come back from 4 -1 and subsequently 5-2 down and against all the odds
come away with a point in a thrilling 5-5 draw was an outstanding
achievement - all involved were a credit to the club.
The performance certainly managed to erase any lingering disappointment
that was still out there following the home defeat to Clevedon Town or week
or so before which remains only our second league defeat of the season.
Today we have to do it all again and we know that we will need to be at our
very best to get a result against what is sure to be a strong Exmouth side,
who have started the season strongly.
Whatever the outcome I am sure that it will be an entertaining game; I
hope that you enjoy it and thank you all for your valued support.
