WELCOME

Prince Nimoy soon had the visitors in front. On fourteen minutes he found space
on the right before firing into the far corner in impressive style. Twelve minutes
later, after switching wings, he obliged again with another sweet strike.
Prince Henry and Alex Lambert both had efforts saved as we fought back eventually
drawing level just before the break when Prince Henry's ground shot from the left
was blocked only for Alex Lambert to react quickly to get the loose ball over the
line. After the break the Bluebells regained the lead just past the hour mark after
more good approach play. Joe Tumlety picked out Ollie Mehew as he ran in from
the left and went on to place the ball wide of Studley. The lead was doubled fifteen
minutes later, substitute Zak Drew sent a cross in from the right and Prince Henry
was on hand to slot the ball in at the near post. The result was looking secure until
the visitors pulled a goal back in the last ten minutes which resulted in a nervy end
to an exciting cup tie (for the neutral).
Monday’s draw puts at home against Tiverton Town with the tie to be played three
days after our mid-week league fixture at their ground. Last time we met in a cup
competition it was the FA Trophy in 2019. The first tie ended 3-3, the replay ended
3-3 after extra time and the game had to go to penalties which we won ‘relatively’
comfortably but neither side deserved to go out that way after such an entertaining
tie. For now however we will focus on the league match and with only one point
separating us both it should be a close game. There will be a coach to Tiverton
departing from the clubhouse at 16:00.
Over the summer we held two notable fundraising events. The Good Times on the
Pitch entertainment series and the Manchester United Legends match were very
well supported and enjoyed by those that attended, thank you. The money raised
has placed the club in a financially secure position to support the team through
22/23 season. In addition there is discussion ongoing with the company developing
the housing around the ground to assist with our stadium improvements. You can
read more on our website - Yate Town FC
A special thank you to all of those who donated to the collection for the family of
Takayo Nembhard. We raised £160 and you can still make donations at GoFundMe
And so we turn to today’s visitors. Winchester finished in fourth spot in Division One
South last season having scored more goals than any other team including the
runaway Champions Plymouth Parkway, coupled to this was joint second best GD.
In the play-offs they romped to promotion with a 4-1 victory over Cinderford in the
semi-final (3 goals scored in extra time) and in the final they matched this with
another 4-1 victory over Bristol Manor Farm. This season we both sit on 5 points
with a single goal placing the Citizens above us. Winchester goals come from both
midfield and the strikers with Silvano Obeng the top scorer.

       C’mon you #Bluebells………….
       Regards,
       Iain
