Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon, I would like to offer a
warm welcome to you all, particularly to
the officials, players and supporters of
Mousehole, we hope you had a good
journey from deepest Cornwall, that you
enjoy your day with us and have a
safe and clear trip home.
st
Last Saturday we welcomed the 1 ever
visit of Southern league Aylesbury
United in the FA cup, and frustratingly
our interest in the historic tournament is
over. We allowed them a comfortable 2-
0 victory, we showed too much respect, when we upped the tempo in the 2 nd
half,we saw that they were beatable but all too late.
But as games come very quickly, we visited our neighbours in Clevedon on
Wednesday night. Last season we beat them twice at their place and drew here.
st
That run continued with our 1 3 points of the season and a performance that
resembled the 2 nd half of last season, but with room for improvement.
I have a feeling we will need that next step up today!! We welcome Deryk and
his club to the Lancer Scott, they are a very well run and hospitable club. They
have their own academy, sponsored by Nike, in a very beautiful part of the
country. If you make 1 long coach trip with us this season, this should be
around the top of your list. Mousehole rightfully earned the reputation of the
rd
best footballing side in the Division last season, finishing 3 in the table.
I’m sure they won’t need reminding that we took 4 points off them. Another
vital Sam Price goal here in January gave 3 points and set the tone for our vast
improvement in the 2 nd half of the season. On Easter Monday we travelled with
a depleted 12 man squad, a 3 “man” midfield whose total age was 54, average
age 18! (team average age22). All credit to those lads as we manged a 2-2
draw, goals from Zak Ford and Miles.
Tuesday we make the short trip to Bitton, 7.30pm ko and another Saturday
home game when welcome newly promoted Welton Rovers.
Following last season’s promotion, good luck to Smarty and the Resies as they
kick off their season in Division 1 of the Somerset County League with a trip to
st
Minehead. Their 1 home game is this Tuesday night v Uphill Castle, 6.30 ko.
The refurbishment of the men’s toilets is nearly finished, they are open and
usable today. We are waiting on a lick of paint and flooring (when Justin Walker
gets back from holidays).
We are looking for a few more volunteers around the club, if you know anyone
who can help please send them my way.
.UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
