Bishops Cleeve opened a three-point lead at the top of the Premier Division on
Saturday with a win at Bradford Town whilst their nearest rivals took points from
each other in a drawn game.
After Jacob Brown had given Bradford the lead, Cleeve came from behind to claim
all three points with goals from Jack Watts and Mark Pritchett.
Brimscombe & Thrupp played hosts to Malvern Town and both team lost
ground on the leaders after they fought out a 2-2 draw. Harlie Price and Jack Smith
netted for the home side whilst the visitors had strikes from Joe Bates and Matt
Turner. Cribbs were involved in the GFA Trophy at the weekend.
Westfields were held up in their climb up the table when they were held 1-1 at
Thornbury Town for whom Elliot Gardner was on target. The point keeps
Thornbury out of immediate danger neat the bottom of the table.
Corsham Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Wiltshire rivals Westbury United
to lose ground. A goal from Ryan Bole shortly after the interval gave Westbury the
bragging rights.
A single late goal by Adam Corcoran was also enough to see Royal Wootton
Bassett Town win 1-0 at Tuffley Rovers.
In a six-pointer at the bottom end of the table, Calne Town came out on top over
Lydney Town 2-1 thanks to Billy Gleed and Rhys Talmarsh. Lewis Thompson
replied for the visitors.
Levi Ellis and William Loughman gave improved Hereford Lads Club a 2-0 victory
at Chipping Sodbury Town, leaving the hosts hovering above the drop zone.
Shrivenham did just enough to see off Roman Glass St. George by the odd
goal in five. Jamie Broadbank, Ryan Fry and Tyler Wilkinson netted for the Wiltshire
hosts, whist Aaron Goulty and Neikell Plummer replied for the Saints.
Three points now separates the top five teams in Division One. Cheltenham
Saracens suffered a 1-0 defeat at Hereford Pegasus with Luke Griffiths grabbing
the decisive strike fourteen minutes from the end.
FC Stratford are the new leaders following their narrow 3-2 success against
Pershore Town. Petar Tonchev, Nick Cox and Tom Daccus secured the three
points for the home side while a double from Sam Clark proved not enough for
Pershore.
They lead by one point from Clanfield ‘85’ who were held to a 2-2 draw at home
by Shortwood United. Goals from Jack Bellinger and Declan Shepperd for
Clanfield were cancelled out by Joe Tyler and Luke Soule for United.
Studley also went down 2-0 at Milton United for whom Louis Joyce and Ollie
Nadin were the marksmen, and who now find themselves within six points of the
top.
A hat trick by Harrison Archer and one from Ashley Alchin gave Malmesbury
Victoria a welcome return to winning ways with a 4-1 victory at Moreton
Rangers. Mark Magee notched a consolation goal for the home side.
At the foot of the table, Abingdon United picked up only their second three-point
haul of the season with a 1-0 win at Bourton Rovers. Bradley Chalmers’ goal was
enough to secure the win which although it was only their second of the season, it
was their second in three games which may indicate a change in fortune for the
Northcourt club.
