Today’s Game
Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the visiting players,
team management, supporters and officials of Tuffley Rovers, together with the match
officials for today’s Hellenic League match. We hope that you enjoy your visit to the
Lawns.
Match Reports
It has been five fixtures since the 1st XI played at The Lawns on 23rd October, so we
have plenty to catch up on!
The last home game was the FA Vase reverse to Andover New Street who ran out 2-1
winners, our late rally and goal from Jake Hodgson were not enough to save us from
defeat.
The following Saturday saw us travel to Calne Town in a game we dominated from start
to finish without landing the killer blow. Another goal from Hodgson gave us a deserved
lead, but Calne struck a fortuitous equalizer to claim a point.
The midweek game on 2nd November 2021 saw us take our second and final trip of the
season to Hereford as we visited ambitious Westfields. Defensive mistakes cost us
dearly and we slipped to a 3-1 defeat. Our goal coming from Niza Chilufya, his first for
the club.
We travelled to Lydney on the Saturday following Bonfire Night hoping to re-ignite our
season with an away victory. Lydney eased into a two nil lead and grabbed a third as
we pushed forward. Our substitutes Kellow and Chilufya injected life into proceedings,
and we secured two goals. The efforts from Steve Murray and Ross McErlain set-up an
exciting six minutes of injury time, but we did not extend the scoring further.
Another midweek match followed as we took on Royal Wootton Bassett. Our
dominance in the first half saw just reward, with Sonny Harnett-Balkwill claiming his
first goal for the club, heading home powerfully. The lead extended before half time
with a strike from George Kellow.
A soft penalty early in the second half put Bassett back in the game, but our lads
powered to a comfortable victory with further goals from Ryan Radford and Jake
Hodgson.
Last Saturday saw Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy action as we travelled to Gala
Wilton of the County League. Luffers decided to rotate his squad and the youngsters
secured a comprehensive 4-0 victory. Again, we were two nil to the good at half time
with a debut goal from Sahr Nanoh and a first Cribbs senior goal from Harris Feltham.
Ace goalscorer Steve Murray scored two in the second half to seal victory, one following
a sublime Feltham pass.
This Afternoon’s Opponents
The last league encounter was in our Gloucestershire County League winning season
of 2011/2012.
Tuffley secured an aggregate win for the season after two away wins. Cribbs won the
early season meeting 2-1 with goals from Bone & Lloyd. Tuffley secured a
comprehensive three goals to nil win later in the season with two goals coming from
Shayne Bradley.
This season has seen Rovers secure some big scalps with wins against Bradford Town
& Westfields, along with a comeback from 3 goals down to draw at Malvern Town. A
tough match is in prospect!
As always, get behind the boys!!! UTC
