Good evening and a very warm welcome to
Clevedon Town for this Toolstation Western League
Premier Division clash. Our committee would also
like to welcome today’s match officials, referee Luke
Iles and his 2 assistants, Dave Trevaskus & Mike
       Rogers.
Amazingly this is our first home game at Crown
       Fields for over 3 months!

Obviously it was a massive disappointment to lose
2 home games to the freezing weather in
December. I was with the match referee early on
both Saturday mornings as he inspected our 3G
pitch at 8:00 am. The main problem we faced was that the 10 yards of the
pitch closest to the car park gets no sunshine at that time of year, so it
would have been unlikely that that part would have thawed (and remained
thawed) once the game had started.

We also had to bear in mind that we are in a division that frequently
requires travel of 3 or 4 hours each way, so added into the mix was the fact
that there was severe weather in South Devon on both occasions. It would
have been unethical to expect either Saltash or Helston to travel the
260/390 mile round trip in conditions when the Highways Agency was
       advising essential road travel only.

And then came January……and the Keynsham flood! This was an easier call
to make regarding postponing our home game against Torpoint, as we do
not possess snorkels or flippers in our kit bag!

Most of you will have seen the news last week that Owen Brain has been
snapped up by Southern League Premier outfit Merthyr Town, who play 2
levels higher than the Ks in the Non-League Pyramid. Whilst we are
obviously disappointed to lose Owen, this rubber stamps the project we
have committed to with Total Pro Soccer to develop young talent.

The lads have a chance to put their feet up this coming Saturday, before we
are back in action at Crown Fields on Saturday 11 March with the
rearranged game at home to Saltash Athletic (3:00 pm kick-off), so
hopefully we will see you again then!
Thank you as always for your valued support. Up the Ks!!
