Leyton Orient are starting to close in on the Division One North title and moved
themselves closer with a 3-1 win away to third placed AFC Leyton. Jordan Feldman netted
twice and Tara Copeland the other, with Naomi Jackson replying. Brentford B are the only
team who can still catch them, they defeated Hackney Res 4-0 thanks to Abigail
Claringbold, Kasey Clifford, Lillie Elsbury and Charlotte Halpin.
In Division One South, Tooting Bec defeated CB Hounslow Utd 6-0 to keep pace
with leaders Hammersmith, Bryony Bancroft on target twice along with Zoe Burden, Olivia
Griffiths, Jennifer Schmidt and Eleanor White. Third placed South London Women
scored nine without reply at Wandsworth Borough, Martha Goddard hitting a hat-trick
and the others came from Virginia Somers (2), Jessica Huntley-Harris, Anna Agwaziam,
Georgia Johnson and Robyn Blanchard. South London Laces and Sporting Duet
finished goalless whilst South East Parakeets beat Kenningwell Utd 4-0 with goals from
Sarah Quinn, Sophie Rackham, Daisy Battles and Emma Clarke.
Luton Town Res caused an upset in the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy when they
eliminated Premier Division title chasers Islington Borough. Olivia Abraham, Sanam
Shahid and Nancy Tucker all scored to give Luton a 3-2 victory, Nicole Theofylaktidou
replying along with an own goal.
Norfolk League
Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers maintained their four point lead with a 6-0 victory away
to University of East Anglia. Victoria Leyer and Karolina Kowalczyk each netted twice with
Shanice Sutton and Phoebe Green also on the scoresheet. Second placed Long Stratton also
won, 4-0 against Beccles Town thanks to Samantha Walker (2), Luci Middleton and Emma
Allsopp. Laura Hedtke bagged a brace as Mulbarton Wanderers made it eight wins out of
eight in third, 2-0 at Sprowston Ladies, whilst Bungay Town and Thetford Town
finished goalless.
KLSC have opened up a two point lead in Division Two after beating Bulldogs Ladies
9-2. Jordan Turner hit a hat-trick, Lucy Clarke weighed in with a brace and there was one
apiece from Elle Bocking, Ellie Panks, Kelsey Ramm and Chloe Edwards. Thorpe St
Andrew defeated Shrublands Ladies 4-0 thanks to an Emma Clark hat-trick and Rebecca
Sutton. Charlotte Groves and Lucy Kean scored the goals as Mulbarton Wanderers Res
won 2-1 at Blofield Utd to replace them in third, meanwhile Aylsham Women went down
1-0 to North Walsham Town, Stella Fletcher-Helps grabbing the only goal of the game.
Alex Danes and Leah Walthew scored the goals for FC Viking Valkyries in their 2-2 draw
with Horsford FC Women, who replied through Maisie Nichols and Evie Tolson.
Sheffield & Hallamshire League (by Julian Barker)
Cup and Shield quarter-final ties dominated the fixtures with just two League games
played. Rotherham Utd Whitehill ran out 6-2 winners over Middlewood Rovers in
Division One, a result which virtually ensures a mid-table Division One finish for the hosts
while leaving Middlewood to battle it out with Barnsley (Women’s) Development and
possibly also Socrates to avoid bottom spot. Caitlin Cooper bagged a hat-trick for Rotherham
whose other goals came from Jess Broadhurst (2) and Rebecca Roddes. Abbey Kirwin and
Ashleigh Mills were the Middlewood scorers.
0-0 draws have tended to be very much in the minority in the League over the years, so
three in less than one season so far in Division Three is unusual, two of those draws have come
at Wickersley Youth, with Eckington Belles the latest opponents.
This season’s Cup semi finals features a very strong line up with all four teams currently
occupying the top four places in Division One. Table toppers Chesterfield Women were 3-1
winners over holders Handsworth Development (most of whose winning line up are
currently playing for Handsworth’s first team in the North East League Southern Division).
Lilli Broadhurst, Chloe Foster and Maddie Watkinson netted for Chesterfield with Emily
