Today’s Game

Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the visiting players,
team management, supporters and officials of Newport (Isle of Wight) Football
Club, together with the match officials to this afternoon’s first round Buildbase FA
Vase tie. We hope that you enjoy your short time with us.
       Match Reports
Since our last update, we have played two further games, one at The Lawns
against Buckland Athletic from Devon and the other away to the Somerset side,
Wellington AFC. Buckland came to the Lawns on the back of a busy start to the
season, having played 13 league games by mid-October. This did not stop them
being a lively opponent who tested our side's resilience to the full. Cribbs had the
majority of the ball in the first half and crafted the better chances. Ed Harrison put
us into the lead before half time with another well struck shot from the edge of the
box. Much like the pattern of our other recent games, the opposition came out in
the second half and put us under pressure. Fraser McDiarmid in the Cribbs goal
made some good saves to thwart Buckland and our defence stood strong to secure
another important three points as we aim to push into the league's top six.

Saturday saw a trip down the M5 for another hard match against Wellington AFC
in wet and windy conditions. Clear cut chances were at a premium in the first half
and the only goal of the half came from a free kick. An excellent whipped ball from
our left by Matt Spiller was met by the head of prolific centre back Ross McErlain.
He nodded the ball beyond the keeper to give us a one nil lead at half time. Again,
the second half was not plain sailing against a very committed opposition and they
struck back midway through the half with a fine 25 yard strike from Jesse Howe.
We had started to get on top before this goal and thankfully it wasn't a signal to
retreat into our shells with a couple of chances falling our way quickly after the
goal. Firstly, substitute Steve Murray found Dan Webb with a cross and his effort
went just wide. Murray was again involved moments later when the Wellington
keeper looped a back pass up in the air and his headed effort rolled just past the
upright. Murray capitalised on his hard work and gave us the victory with a late
goal. Lewis Waldy received the ball on the halfway line and played the ball into
Murray who worked some space, driving it past the keeper for the winner. All the
