President’s
Thoughts
We welcome the players, officials and spectators of Sherborne Town today for our
Toolstation Western League Division 1 match. We hope they enjoy their visit.
I must take time out from my usual musings to react to the events that took place
at our last match.
Abuse, in whatever form it takes cannot, should not, and will not, be tolerated.
Once we were aware of the situation we contacted Gloucestershire FA ourselves
and we are fully co-operating with their enquiries whilst also conducting our own
investigation. We will get to the bottom of it!
We have been in contact with SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality) who
have been very useful with advice. Their leaflet is printed further into the
programme and has their contact number.
Unfortunately with the power of social media being what it is some people have
turned to it to make statements that are both malicious in their content and, in
some cases we believe to be outright lies.
I have been associated with this club for over 40 years and it saddens me to see
our reputation damaged in this way, when we are unable to defend ourselves for
fear of further retribution.
Notwithstanding that, we offer our full support for both the club and the player
involved with a view to bring the incident to swift resolution.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game…
Come and visit me in the kitchen at half time for hot drinks and hot food and failing
that I hope to have a beer with you all at the end
As we all say #Up the Phones
