P. 3
Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all the players, staff and supporters of
Street who have travelled today. Also I would like to welcome our match officials,
referee Mike Halford and his assistants, Ollie Harrison & Mark Oswin.
Last week it was great to welcome back Marvin Brown to Crown Fields. Several of
us were on the gate when he arrived and it was good to see him looking so well.
His experience will no doubt be a fantastic asset to our players on a matchday and
his knowledge of the game is second to none.
Last Saturday saw us draw with a very well-supported Falmouth Town side, who
had the better chances in the game, but thanks to a resolute defensive
performance after a beauty of a looping header from Will Sage, we gained a well-
earned point.
Personally I was really happy with the scoreline, as our players showed great
maturity in how they played, realising that we were up against it and that a draw
was going to work out a good result. However it was also refreshing to speak to
Juan and Ash after the game and hear that they both wanted more from the
players, as are the standards they are setting are high – this is fantastic from every
aspect.
I'd like to give a special mention to James Tooze and Chris King for our Reserves
winning back-to-back games. The talent is undoubtedly there in the squad, but
unfortunately results were not in the first few games of the season. Hopefully now
this great group of players can push on and get more results and keep entertaining
us with their committed displays.
Next Tuesday we travel a relatively short distance to face what will be a strong
Shepton Mallet side (7:30 KO).
Our next home fixture is against Cadbury Heath on Tuesday 4th October (7:45 KO).
Let's all get behind our players today and hopefully we'll get the three points!
Up the K's
