Good evening and a very warm welcome to everyone for this evening’s Toolstation Western
League game at home to Sherborne Town. Our committee
would also like to welcome tonight’s match officials, referee Dan
Bugg and his 2 assistants, Alex Setchell & Adam Boubrahmi.
They say that “a week is a long time in politics” – well back in
late May, a week was an eternity for yours truly and my
colleagues on the Keynsham Town committee! In a matter of
hours, our previous manager John Allen, his coaching team, our
physio and the bulk of our First Team squad had left for pastures
new (mainly at Mangotsfield United). Whilst the backdrop of the
ridiculous amount of travelling our staff and players are required
to do by the FA’s hierarchy made their decision understandable,
obviously this left us needing a massive reorganisation.
The club announced in June the beginning of a long-term first
team management partnership with Total Pro Soccer (TPS),
commencing for season 2022/23. TPS and their team of experienced and highly-qualified
coaches have earned an excellent reputation for developing talented young footballers for
over 10 years, and everyone at the club is very much look forward to working alongside them
and taking the next step towards fulfilment of the club's immediate ambitions.
TPS owners Ashley Morgan & Marvin Brown said: “We are thankful that Total Pro Soccer have
been appointed as the Keynsham Town FC management team and we are extremely excited
by the challenge. We have been looking for the right opportunity and believe we now have
the ideal partnership with aligning ambitions and values”.
Fortunately the Reserve Team were reprieved from relegation from the Uhlsport Somerset
County Premier Division at the end of last season, and the management trio of James Tooze,
Chris King and Brian Sealy will again be at the helm this season.
There has also been a change in the board room at the club, with Chairman Adrian Cole
deciding to step down from his role after 10 years at the club. Discussions are under way to
appoint a replacement.
After some promising displays in pre-season, our young lions played their first competitive
match for the Ks last Saturday, ironically away to Cadbury Heath, where we finished last
season! Despite suffering a 5-0 reverse, the scoreline was harsh on the Ks, who created
plenty of chances to score; however mistakes were ruthlessly punished by the more-
experienced Heath and hopefully this will prove to be a good lesson for our young lads.
This Saturday sees a now-customary long away trip for a cup tie, as we travel to
Buckinghamshire to face Combined Counties Premier League outfit Flackwell Heath in the FA
Cup Extra Preliminary Round.
I look forward to seeing you back here at Crown Fields next Tuesday 9 August (19:45), when
th
we will be hosting either Bridgwater United (League) or a cup replay against Flackwell Heath
should Saturday’s game end all square.
Thank you for your loyal support and I know that you will give our young stars your backing
this season.
