President’s
Thoughts
A welcome today to the players, coaches and supporters of Lebeq United for our
third meeting of the season. Our previous home game was unfortunately
abandoned due to a serious injury to a Lebeq player. Our physio, Charlotte Garton
did sterling work on the day and I’m pleased to say that a few weeks later the lad
visited the club to present Charlotte with some flowers to say thank you.
We still are rocked by horrific stories that are coming out of Ukraine, and I’m sure
you all will agree with me when I say that our thoughts are with all the people
who’s lives have been affected by the war.
Lebeq sit nicely in mid-table but come into this game following a narrow defeat to
Wells City, so they will be keen to get back to winning ways.
Our last game was a defeat to Bishop Sutton in what was a close fought game. Both
Sutton’s goals came in the last 10 minutes, the first a penalty following a rash
challenge from a corner and the second, when our keeper went up for a late corner
which resulted in a race back to our line that the lad from Sutton won!
Covid-19 still raising it’s ugly head so please use the hand sanitisers, both at our
entrance and in the main bar.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game…
As always, hot and cold food, tea’s and coffee are available in the clubhouse so
come and visit me in the kitchen, and, whatever the result, join me for a beer after
the game.
As we all say #Up the Phones
