MATCH REPORT

On an historic day for Shirehampton .F.C we kicked off our Tool Station
Western League campaign at home to Longwell Green Sports on an
     overcast but warm day.
Longwell Green got us underway and on four minutes the first shot of
game came from Longwell Green, but Shay Allen was equal to it with a
sharp safe low to his left.

On eight minutes Kyle Simpson broke through the Longwell Green
defence but his shot went wide of the keeper, then Ryan Radford rattled
the cross bar with a rasping shot on to the cross bar and the rebound
was struck over by Dan Morne.
On twenty five minutes the moment Shirehampton had waited for for 70
years for, the first goal in the Western League a brilliant through ball by
Grant Mathison set Dan morne free who ran on to pass the ball pass the
Longwell Green keeper, however only three minutes later Longwell
Green equalised after the first corner of the game, when a deflected shot
was headed home by Alistair Bamford.
The second half started end to end and on fifty five minutes
Shirehampton struck the bar again by Kye Simpson.

Once again Shirehampton took the lead on 55 minutes after another
brilliant through ball by Matt McCall to Ryan Radford, who took the
chance early and steered the ball with the outside of his foot in to the
     far side of the net.
Shirehampton had the ball in the net again at 65 minutes from Dan
Morne but the goal was ruled out for an offside in the build up. Longwell
levelled on seventy minutes with good work down the left hand side and
a cross that was turned in at the back post by Liam Oswin.
On seventy five minutes Longwell Green took the lead for the first time
in the game for Longwell Green when a shot from Zac Feltham was
cleared off the line but the linesman in a great position ruled it had cross
     the line.
On eighty five Shirehampton had the chance to level the game when
they were awarded a penalty for hand ball on the line which resulted in
a straight red for the Longwell Green player.
Ryan Radford stepped up but saw his strike come back off the post and
     was cleared.
Little incident in the final minutes saw the score of Shirehampton 2,
     Longwell Green 3.
