were completed, Kiveton Park equalled their highest individual match tally for the season
with a 6-3 win over Barnsley (Women) Development thanks to goals from Millie Simms
(2), Sarah Anderson, Chloe Dean, Mikayla Harper and Sara Tyler. Jess Broadhurst bagged a
hat-trick for Rotherham Utd Whitehill whose other scorer was Gracie Horne in their 4-1
victory at Middlewood Rovers, with Charlotte Watson on the mark for the hosts. Megan
Brackenbury (2) and Danielle Shepherd were the scorers for Wakefield Res in their 3-1
victory over Socrates for whom Amber Wilson netted to make it 2-1 only to have their hopes
of snatching a point dashed by Wakefield’s third in stoppage time.
In Division Two, the table has been revised due to Sheffield City dropping out having
played 11 of their 16 scheduled fixtures (one game more and they would have reached the 75%
mark). With Sheffield’s results expunged and Mosborough winning 6-0 at Sheffield Utd
Community Development on Thursday, the title race still remains very interesting, but it
is now Mosborough who top the table with 22 points from 10 games, ahead of Swallownest
on goal difference. One point behind are Handsworth Development who have played
eleven times and Penistone Church just nine. Sheffield City had lost all of their games and
suffered some heavy defeats including some in double figures. Penistone’s 10-0 home victory
over Mexborough Athletic edged out Handsworth’s 10-1 win over Worsbrough Bridge
Athletic as the Division’s revised biggest win of the season. Jess Barrow was the highest
individual scorer with four, while Danni Fletcher (2), Abby Mills, Lucy Poskitt, Jodie Stancil
and Georgia Tagg were the others on target. Swallownest drew 4-4 at home to Worsbrough
whose goals came from Jenna-Lea Portress (2), Jo Marfleet and Sam Whiteley.
Mosborough booked their place in the Shield final with a hat-trick by Sadie Smith and
singles from Kelsey Hallam, Leah Kerr and Beth Tonner helping them to a 6-2 home win over
Staveley Miners Welfare. Division Two title rivals Penistone await in the final.
Staveley’s defeat was tempered by the fact that they edged closer to finishing Division
Three champions as second placed AFC Norton Woodseats lost 2-1 at Charnock
Ridgeway, whose goals came from Kerry Clifford and Sam Rostron. Poppy Webb scored for
Norton as they remain five points behind Staveley who need five points from their four
remaining games to be assured of the title. Dearne & District are virtually certain to finish
third. Goals from Emma Fleetwood (2) and Megan Govier gave them a 3-0 win at Eckington
Belles. Melissa Bell, Ebony Jade and Rachel Norsworthy were the West End Terriers
scorers in their 3-0 victory over Mind Over Matter.
Somerset League
Wellington came through a difficult tie in the First Round of the League Cup when they won
3-1 against Division Two North high fliers Berrow. Chantelle Bowle netted two penalties and
Ashleigh Grabham was also on target, with Chloe Williams replying. Tilli Davidson was on
target four times and Hollie Stanmore hit a hat-trick as last season's runners-up Bishop's
Lydeard Res swept past Hutton, Rosi Burford and Holly Miller each netting twice along
with Mia Cridge, Noah Farrant, Molly Hines, Natasha Lovell, Sophie Pinkney and Alyssia
Campbell-Farmer. Nikki Newbold (2) and
