Ross McErlain slotted home a last-gasp penalty to put Cribbs back on track with a
1-0 victory over Fairford Town on Tuesday evening.
The win closed the gap behind Malvern Town to two points as the leaders were
held to a 3-3 draw by Tuffley Rovers. Joe Bates, David Reynolds and Matt Turner
netted for the home side who must have thought they had done enough to secure
all three points, but Tuffley levelled with goals from Joe Shutt, Jamal Lawrence and
an own goal to take a share of the spoils.
Bishops Cleeve also dropped two points in a 1-1 draw at Thornbury Town
despite taking the lead as early as the third minute when Elliot Kennedy netted,
however Craig Lancastle equalized for the home side just seven minutes later.
Matthew Swan scored the only goal of the game for Corsham Town at Roman
Glass St. George and kept them very much in the hunt for honours.
Longlevens and Westfields were held up in their challenge when their match at
Westfields was abandoned due to a serious head injury sustained by Westfields’
Sam Hunt. Sam collided with the barrier around the pitch and was forced to wait
more than 90 minutes for an ambulance which gave the referee no choice but to
abandon the game. Thankfully he was allowed to return home later after hospital
treatment.
Brimscombe & Thrupp suffered another setback to their hopes when they lost
2-1 at home to Hereford Lads Club on Wednesday.
A goal from Bristol City loanee Tommy Backwell earned struggling Hallen a point
from a 1-1 draw at home to Chipping Sodbury Town.
In-form Westbury United trounced Wiltshire neighbours Calne Town 5-0.
Amongst the goals were Ashton Shanley, Francois Allen and Joey Cunningham.
Royal Wootton Bassett Town shared a 1-1 draw with Lydney Town after a
goal from Alan Griffin.
