Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon, welcome to the Lancer Scott
Stadium, I would like to wish you all a healthy and
happy NEW YEAR. We extend a warm welcome to
today’s match officials Simon Laraway, Damon
McEllin and Jonathan Cooper, the players,
supporters and officials of Wellington AFC.
From a football perspective we got all the
Christmas presents we could ask for, namely all 6
points from the festive games against Keynsham
Town (4-0) and Cadbury Heath (3-1).
I am pleased to announce that committee member Phil Rex has offered to
become our new treasurer. The role was vacant following the sudden death,
late last year, of Johnathan Rogers. Beech has added 2 new faces to his
coaching team, Andy Billiterri joins us from Bishop Sutton as goalkeeping coach
and Craig Cummins is already a familiar and cheerful face here, as his son Alfie
is in the 1st team.
Please don’t be deceived by Wellington AFC being 3rd from bottom, we are in
for a very tough game today. They may have had a difficult start to the season
but look at their last 10 games, just 2 defeats by the odd goal against very good
opponents, Shepton Mallet and Buckland Athletic, beat Bridgwater Utd in the
league cup and held them and league leaders Saltash to draws. Today is the
1st of 4 games at the Lancer Scott in January, hopefully we can make home
advantage count and keep us in the top half of the league.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the
officials.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman n
