End of Year Message
End o f Y e a r M e s s a g e
Firstly a warm welcome to the Bracknell Town players and
officials for today’s Southern League Premier South match here
at The South West Interiors Stadium.
Well last Saturday’s result was another opportunity lost to
break our bad run of form. After conceding two early goals, we
got back into the game with good combination play between
Rex Mannings and new signing Lucas Tomlinson, which ended
with Lucas scoring on his debut. From that point on the game
became very open. We controlled the majority of the second
half and when Ben McLean scored the equaliser it looked odds
on for us to go on and take the points. But we were denied by
some good defending and wasteful finishing. I will admit that
we looked nervous in the final 10 minutes of the game, which
has to be down to the confidence lost over recent results, but
for Beaconsfield to score in added time was cruel on us.
Particularly so as we still managed to create and miss a great
opportunity before the final whistle.
What a performance this was compared to the week before at home to North Leigh! We
cannot gloss over the lack of quality we showed that day, but last Saturday at Beaconsfield
was the absolute 180° turn around.
Today’s game against Bracknell Town represents our next big challenge, a team whose
recent form, including a 4-0 win away at Harrow Borough on Tuesday night, has seen them
leap into the play-off positions of the league. We will be under no illusions of the contest that
WELCOME encouragement and the positives from last Saturday’s
faces our lads today. But taking
performance we must meet this head on, and trust that on the day we manage to obtain the
right result.
On the playing side, I can report that:
Lucas Tomlinson has joined us from Salisbury and made his debut last week at Beaconsfield
Town.
Rex Mannings loan from Bath City has been extended until the end of season.
Calvin Dinsley misses today’s game as the final game of his 2-match suspension.
I am hopeful to have managed to bring in one maybe two new signings before the
registration deadline closed on Thursday. These signings, if they come off, will help us
through the final five weeks of the season in our bid to escape the position we find ourselves
currently.
Finally, the support shown of late by our supporters has been first class. A real sense of
realism and full support for the management team and club as a whole.
This run of bad form, bad luck and real frustration through games is something l personally
have never experienced before in football, but rest assured we are fighting hard and training
towards turning our fortunes around.
It gives me great strength seeing so many supporters for our home games supporting the
lads, and the same ardent loyal supporters that follow us to our away games too and this
makes me more determined to ensure our club starts to move forward as quickly as possible.
Your support as ever is welcomed and appreciated.
Come on you Bluebells!!
