Nick’s Notes, The Resies
We would to thank 3 of our longest supporters Mike,
Tony and Dave for sponsoring Nick Smart, our reserve
manager. Each year the 3 of them make a donation to
sponsor someone at the club. This year they chose
Smarty, THANK YOU GUYS.
Since our last catch up I have 3 games to bring you up to date with.
First up was an away game v Yatton and Cleeve with hosts winning two
nil and totally deserving the 3 points.
Next up was our senior cup match away to Westfield. Our first victory of
the season, a well-deserved 1-0 win but on another day we could of, or
maybe should of scored 4 , Thomas Smart hitting the woodwork for the
sixth time this season so far . Sam Hemmings with a well taken goal
coming off the bench to book our place in the next round. It was the
performance for me that made all the difference and a much needed
clean sheet.
Then our next game was home to Welton Rovers in the Premier cup.
Another promising performance by our boys Thomas Smart and Cam
Main missed a couple of chances to cancel out Weltons early goal against
the run of play. With Joe Meredith seeing his goal bound header cleared
off the line late on for the Stags it wasn’t meant to be.
But as a squad I feel we are settling down coming to terms with the
standard of the division and what is expected of each player both
individually and collectively as a team. I feel the little green shoots are
beginning to appear and the confidence amongst the squad is growing.
With players returning from injury, the future is looking very bright, I am
sure that a run of positive results and performances is just round the
corner. Starting this Saturday away to third placed Winscombe which I
am sure will be a very lively affair in front of a very partisan crowd.
Enjoy your game, UP THE STAGS
