Good evening and a very warm welcome to everyone for this evening’s Toolstation
Western League game at home to Bridgwater United.
Our committee would also like to welcome tonight’s
match officials, referee Kristian Gould and his 2
assistants, Sam Thorne & Steve Fearnley.
To say it has been a difficult start to the season for our
baby Ks would definitely be an understatement.
However although we have registered 3 defeats, the
latest a 4-0 reverse away to a strong Flackwell Heath
side in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, our
performances are improving and there are positives
which we need to focus on.
Coach Jim Bryden is working tirelessly on and off the training field to try and
eradicate the individual errors that we are being punished for, and we showed
enough threat going forward last Saturday to give me confidence that results will
improve.
That FA Cup defeat gave the Ks an unfortunate English national FA Cup record –
th
this was our 12 consecutive exit at the Extra Preliminary Round stage, spread over
the last 19 seasons. Indeed our last win in the competition was back in 1935-35
with a 3-2 victory over Kingswood! Let’s hope that we don’t reach the 100 th
anniversary!!
This coming Saturday sees our weekly trek in the minibus, this time down the
lovely M5 to North Devon to face Ilfracombe Town.
I hope you enjoy tonight’s game and look forward to seeing you back here at
th
Crown Fields next Tuesday 16 August (19:45), when we will be hosting Welton
Rovers in the League.
Thank you for your loyal support and I know that you will continue to give our
young stars your backing and encouragement this season.
