We have to do it all over again
FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round 7th August 21
Brislington 3 Brimscombe & Thrupp 3 ATT 106
Goalscorers : - Scadding 19, White 41, Bath 60
On Saturday we began our FA Cup campaign when we welcomed Hellenic League side Brimscombe & Thrupp to
the Popular Insula on Stadium.
Just before kick off a torren al downpour made the pitch very wet with some surface water forming and some
very wet players coming in from the warm up.
Simon Prangley, James Peart &!Asa White came in to the side with Conor Mccormack (injured) Tobin &
Greenslade unavailable.
On a difficult pitch both sides started the game just feeling each other out but you could see that there may be
areas we could get at the visitors but they did look a threat going forward.
On 14mins they were awarded a penalty s ll unsure as to why the Ref waived play on and bought it back when
play broke down. From the resul ng spot kick Callum Heal saved well but we were not quick enough to react and
the player that took the kick followed up to make it 1-0.
We then upped our game and were star ng to threaten Scadds was ge ng some success out wide and put sone
good deliveries in.
On 19mins we were awarded a corner Prangs put the ball in it was cleared to Scadds on the edge of the box who
took one touch & dispatched the ball into the top corner 1-1.
There was now a slight edge to the game which the Ref failed to get a grip off. The flash point was when George
Jones was fouled and as he was ge ng to his feet there looked like a deliberate knee into his groin area.
Unfortunately the Ref & his assistant failed to see the incident, but he did make a point of calling both Captains
in to calm things down.
We con nued to press and were probably just shading it.Bath was working hard up top and proving a handful for
their defence.
On 41mins we got our 2nd when the visitors failed to clear the ball and fell to Asa White to finish.
HT 2-1
The 2nd half started much as the 1st finished we were playing well and working hard as a team to frustrate the
visitors.
On 60mins a White flick on found Ryan James Bath in space and in a one on one with the keeper. In what seemed
an eternity Bath toyed with the away side before a decent finish to make it 3-1.
For some reason we then sat off and allowed the visitors to come on to us and put ourselves
under pressure. Bath had picked up an injury & was replaced by Elliot Saunders and we had
change the shape.
On 79mins the visitors grabbed a lifeline we failed to clear our lines quick enough and a
decent finish made it 3-2. It was going to make for an interes ng final 10 mins and our cause
wasn’t helped when we lost Barwood & Prangs through injury.
The visitors were star ng to turn the screw and we just couldn’t find away to take the
pressure off.
On 85mins they drew level when they found space on our le & the ball was dispatched into
the far corner 3-3.
We then found an extra surge of energy and in injury me Scadds had the ball in the back of
the net but was adjudged to be in an offside posi on.
FT 3-3
At 3-1 we looked liked we done enough to secure our place in the next round but couldn’t
see out the game. We now go to Brimscombe & Thrupp for a replay tomorrow night KO
7.45pm.
