League Review

Easter Monday saw Weston-super-Mare move five-points clear at the top of the Pitching
In Southern League Premier Division South table.
Second-placed Bracknell Town also won, but there was a damaging defeat for third-placed
Truro City, who now trail the Seagulls by 9 points with a game in hand.
Weston edged a 2-1 win at the Optima Stadium against mid-table Tiverton Town in front
of a terrific crowd of 997. The hosts broke the deadlock 5 minutes before the break when
Olly Mehew flicked the ball on for Jordan Bastin, who fired past Lewis Williams inside the
area. Five minutes after half-time, Weston doubled their lead when Scott Laird cut the ball
back to Marlon Jackson who turned and fired in on his left from just inside the box. The
Yellows responded within 8 minutes when a Craig Woodman free-kick was headed back
across goal by Ed James for Matt Britton to volley past Luke Purnell.
The home side had chances to increase their lead but it finished 2-1.
A crowd of 403 at The SB Stadium saw Bracknell beat Beaconsfield Town 3-1. The Robins
took a 14th minute lead when Jordan Esprit found the bottom corner from 20 yards out. But
a minute before the break, the Rams were level when Lewis Pegg poked th ball past Michael
Eacott from close range. Eleven minutes after the interval, Bracknell were back in front with
a fine individual effort from Gary Abisogun. And a
minute from the end of normal time, the Robins
made sure with a third, Dan Bayliss` header being
blocked on the goalline only for Mickel Platt to net
                                        the loose ball.
Truro lost the derby with landlords Plymouth
Parkway 3-1 at Bolitho Park in front of a crowd
                                        of 622. The `visiting` Parkway took a 28th minute
lead when Rio Garside beat James Hamon in the
Truro goal with a fierce drive. The White Tigers
equalised after 34 minutes when Harvey
Greenslade drove home at the far post. The game
turned on 62 minutes when the `home` side were
reduced to ten-men after Dan Sullivan was shown
a second yellow card. Parkway punished Truro in
the 82nd minute when Ryan Lane’s cross deceived
everyone and went in off a post. And then in the
5th minute of stoppage time, Hamon brought
down Ben Seymour in the area and the striker
dusted himself down before converting the
resulting penalty to make it 3-1.
That defeat saw North Leigh drop down to the
bottom of the table after both Yate Town and
Harrow Borough moved above the Millers and
                                        Hartley Wintney, who also lost.
