Thoughts
Why is it that as soon as the weekend approaches the weather changes. Last
weekend was the classic case, from sunshine on Friday the heavens opened on
Saturday morning to make sure that players and spectators all got a little damp.
What it achieved was that the ball travelled over the pitch with a bit more zip which
made the game against Bishops Lydeard pretty quick. From taking an early lead we
let that slip and it took a late penalty (our 6 of the season I think) to win the game
th
that we had controlled for long periods. We certainly give good value for the
spectators. Lets hope for good weather today and a good game.
Today we welcome Lebeq to Stockwood. We have already played them this season
and, in a highly charged game, they managed to run out 2-3 winners. We will be
looking for payback today and I hope that we achieve our second win on the
bounce to continue our movement up the league table.
At a risk of stating the obvious, please use the various hand gels provided and try
and keep a distance from others around you so that you don’t get ‘pinged’ by the
NHS App. We all know that Covid-19 is far from finished and the more sensible we
are the better chance we have of completing the whole season this time.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game...
As we all say #Up the Phones
As always I look forward to having a drink (or two) with you all in the bar after
(Socially distanced, of course), and you can find me in the kitchen providing tea’s,
coffee’s, pasties and pies during the game. Come and look me up!
