Ashton & Backwell United FC - The Squad
Lewis Coombes, Goalkeeper – A product of the Ashton FC Youth System from the age of 6, joined
2010. le in 2012 for Bishop Su on but re-signed in 2014 under ex-manager & dad Rich Coombes
and has been the Stags’ No. 1 ever since. Very vocal !! & a good shot stopper.
Joel Manning, Goalkeeper- A recent signing, who has been very impressive in his first 2 games for the
club, from Gloucester county side Bromley Heath, who Joel joined following long spells at Bristol City
and Cheltenham Town academies.
Joe Bishop, Defender – Vice Captain. Bish is now into his 7th season at the Stags’, he reads the game
well and has established himself as the rock in the defence over the last few of seasons. Product of
the Ashton FC Youth System.
Jordan Bishop, Defender – Broke into the squad from the reserves a couple of seasons ago, done
brilliantly when called upon and now a 1 team squad regular. Brother of fellow defender Joe, but

certainly doesn’t live in his shadow on and off the pitch!
Tom Press, Defender – Another Ashton FC Youth represented in the 1st Team. Signed from Broad
Plain House in the Somerset County League in 2018, loves of tackle, great diag and good in the air,
formed a great partnership with Bish.
Reece Hedges, Defender-.a young, tall centre half that joined us a few weeks ago from Hallen FC
where he was playing regularly in the Hellenic league. Previous clubs are Almonsbury and Li le
Stoke. Made an impressive debut last week Vs. Cadbury Heath despite playing out of posi on at right
back.
Regan Sollars, Defender – Signed from Brislington in 2016, now an ever present in the 1 team a er

breaking through from the reserves a er being a key player their promo on 4 seasons ago. Product
of Bristol Rovers Academy before joining Rovers he was part of the Ashton FC Youth setup.
Charlie Saunders- Defender/Midfield – Signed from Bath City in 2018 & brother of 1 team captain

Connor. Modern day footballer, quick, very good on the ball and is a very good ball carrier. Char is
very versa le being able to play at anywhere across the back or in midfield.
Sam Thomas, Midfield – Started at Ashton Boys aged 5, re-joined following a period at Bristol City
Academy. Signed for the Stags in 2010, making him our longest serving player. High quality midfielder
& full of energy, who never stops running. He has become a major part for the side. Tomo is very
versa le and has been known to fill in wherever the manager needs him including in goal.
Joel Bayliss, Midfield – Signed this summer from Clevedon Town, can play on either wing
or through the middle. His pacey and direct, will cause any team problems at this level.

Alfie Cummings, Midfield/winger – New signing this season, only 17 years of age. Ex-Bristol Rovers
schoolboy, very good on the ball a player who has bags of poten al and a great a tude.
Mason Hardidge, Midfield – Another player to come from Ashton Boys. Promoted from the Reserves
this season and hasn’t looked out of place in the 1 Team also brother of fellow midfielder Miles. Mas

is very good on the ball and has lots of poten al and looking forward to seeing what he adds to the
squad.
Miles Hardidge, Midfield –Been with club for 9 seasons, another to join straight from Ashton Boys.
