Introducing -Moreton Rangers FC
Moreton Rangers Football Club was established in
1907 under the name Moreton Town FC. During
their time in the Hellenic Premier the club were
bankrupted half way through the 1994/5 season.
Moreton Rangers was formed in 1997 as an Under
8’s youth side, playing on the wold Moreton Town
ground at London Road, Moreton-in-Marsh in the
heart of the Cotswolds. Due to the financial demise
of Moreton Town, the young Moreton Rangers were born.
The club grew from strength to strength and by the early 2000’s had
expanded to four youth teams who went on to be successful in the Witney
and District League.
In 2004 an adult team was formed and led by former Cheltenham Town
favourite, and local player Nick Jordan. In 2009, twenty points clear in
Division 1 of the Cheltenham League, disaster struck. An arson attack left
the changing rooms completely gutted. Thanks to community fundraising
the club managed to gather the £72,000 needed to progress.
In 2006, the club were awarded the FA Development Status as a supporter
of five youth teams and an adult side. To this day the adult side is made up
of some of the original U8’s.
In 2015 the club joined the uhlsport Hellenic League Division 2 West
League. Rangers were led for years by former Oxford United, Fulham,
Huddersfield and Leyton Orient player Gary Barnett. Barnett’s managerial
career included time as Jan Molby's assistant at Kidderminster.
His successor, Nick Timms, a former Rangers player himself currently
manages our first team and led them to a double victory, winning the
Gloucestershire Senior Amateurs Cup and League double in the 2018/19
season. On June 18th 2019 Moreton Rangers were awarded Promotion to
the uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 Wes
