A few words from the manager...

WICK 1 - 1 FILTON ATHLETIC (10th August 2024)

“A really fantastic day for Filton Athletic FC, it’s fans and especially the

players. I’m not sure I can remember a day like it in my time as both a player
and manager at the club. I think all involved thoroughly enjoyed, which in my
opinion, was a very well contested game of football against a strong and
organised Wick side.

The game could have gone either way, we had chances as did Wick. We
overcame the early nerves and started the game very well, the early sin bin

hurt us in the first half and the higher standard of referring is something the
players will need to get used to quickly.
I think it was clear for all to see that our fitness levels aren’t where we want

them to be just yet and after 70 mins our performance dropped drastically. But
as per usual with my players, they ran through brick walls to drag us to the
finish line, even carving out a few late chances which could have won it for us.

There are so many positives to take from the game and to build upon for the
rest of the season. I’m proud of the boys and excited to see how we push on
from here.”
