Nick’s Notes. The Resies
SPONSORED BY THE 3 STALWARTS
MIKE, TONY DAVE
We would to thank 3 of our longest
supporters Mike, Tony and Dave for
sponsoring Nick Smart, our reserve
manager. Each year the 3 of them
make a donation to sponsor
someone at the club. This year they
chose Smarty, THANK YOU GUYS.
We never had a game last Saturday, all 3 of the
Reserve management team were on Bar and
gate duty for the 1 team V Sherborne. Very
st
entertaining game, but I would rather be on the touchline!
Today we travel to Yeovil for a 4 round Somerset Senior cup tie against
th
Westlands Sports. They are 2 in the equivalent Division above us, just
nd
2 points off top place. So a good side but we are looking forward to it and
won’t be daunted. We have a lot of character as well as ability in the
squad.
We have been hit with some bad injuries this season, Paul Uppington
(knee) played 1 game, Cam Main (knee) played 4 games, Cordell Young
( broken leg, see below) and most recently Joe Meredith (knee). But we
have benefited from Sam Price returning to us from 1 team duty and
st
Sam Thomas who is now firing on all cylinders following his knee
operation.
We have a couple of home, league games coming up, Saturday 17 Dec.
th
2pm a local derby V Yatton and Cleeve, quickly followed by neighbours
Winscombe on Wednesday, 21 Dec. 7.30 ko. We greatly appreciate your
st
support.
On behalf of the whole club I would like to thank everyone who
very generously donated into Cordell’s fund. Cordell has been with
us for 8 seasons, a talented, speedy winger suffered a broken leg
in 2 places and will be off work for quite a while. Its too early to
say if we will see him in the maroon and blue of A & B again. The
money raised will be very handy just before Xmas. Cordell has
asked me to pass on his thanks, he was over whelmed with the
generosity of the supporters on the night.
Enjoy your game, see you soon.
