President’s
Thoughts
This afternoon we welcome the Players, Officials and Supporters of Bishop Sutton
to Stockwood Lane for a Toolstation Western League Division 1 match.
I won’t dwell on the midweek result against Wells other than to say that sometimes
things have to get worse to get better. I am sure that the result was a ‘one off’ and
I am sure that the players will ensure that it doesn’t happen again, certainly this
season!
Bishop Sutton come to the ‘Lane on the back of a five match losing streak that has
seen them drop from their lofty early position in the league but they sit safe in mid
table. Both teams have something to prove today.
Following Tuesday’s match our Treasurer, Dave Johnson, has decided to step down.
Dave has been with us for over 15 years and has had a number of positions
including being Shaun’s number two when we came into this league. We wish Dave
well in his future activities, and look forward to him visiting as a spectator in the
future.
Steffi Osborne has agreed to take over the role, and we wish her well in this
important role.
With Covid-19 still rife please make use of the hand sanitiser stations at the
entrance and in the club so that we can finish this season properly.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game…
Come and visit me in the kitchen at half time for hot drinks and hot food and failing
that I hope to have a beer with you all at the end, hopefully with a ‘Phones win to
celebrate!
As we all say #Up the Phones
