President’s
Thoughts
A welcome today to the players, coaches and supporters of Wincanton Town to ‘The
Lane’ for this sightly early 2.30 kick off due to storm Eunice!
When I last wrote this piece Russia hadn’t invaded Ukraine and when something
like that happens we all have to stop and think how fragile life can be, and how
lucky we are to live on this little island. The thoughts of all of us at Bristol
Telephones is with Ukraine and we hope that the situation can be resolved quickly
and with as little loss to life as possible.
Back to football and Wincanton currently sit 4 in the table but some way behind
th
the clubs above. However I’m sure they will be looking to add to their long
unbeaten run, but, as we need points to move away from the bottom two teams,
it sets up to be a great game.
On Tuesday we went to Tytherington in simply atrocious conditions, and despite
losing 2-0 the lads put in a great display but just couldn’t beat the ‘Rocks keeper.
Let’s hope for better luck today.
With Covid-19 still rife please make use of the hand sanitiser stations at the
entrance and in the club so that we can finish this season properly.
Lets hope for a well contested contest today and whatever the score, let’s all enjoy
the game and remember to accept the Referee’s judgement whether we agree or
not, as with-out officials we could not play the game…
As always, hot and cold food, tea’s and coffee are available in the clubhouse so
come and visit me in the kitchen, and, whatever the result, join me for a beer after
the game.
As we all say #Up the Phones
